Details of when and where the group will be are still being worked out and Andrew is currently trying to gather an idea of how many people will come in order to find somewhere large enough. So if you're interested in going you should head over to the site and respond to the poll on the right hand side of the page. Then it should just be a matter of keeping an eye on the site and also watching the mailing list.
Your Birds of a Feather Session Proposal, BOF003 "Alt.Net Lightning Talks" has been approved and will run at lunchtime (1245-1345) on Thursday 10 September in Meeting Room 7
So, we’ve got an hour to fill with fun and giggles. If we take a few minutes for setup and so forth we'll have enough time for 4 sessions and some Q&A.
With that in mind, we're looking for session proposals so jump on to the mailing list and post a proposal if you’re going and would like to do a talk. 10 minutes MAX.
After much administrivia we now have a Live Meeting account we can use for hosting Virtual Alt.Net meetings for Australians.
The first meeting will be Monday March 2nd at 9:30 PM Eastern time and at this stage we're looking at fortnightly meetings.
The agenda is as follows:
1. Turn up
2. Start talking :-)
In terms of content we'll talk about whatever people are interested in talking about, so watch the mailing list to find out what might be on for the night, or even better, volunteer yourself to speak about something.

What is Alt.Net
The Australian Alt.Net Community is a self-organizing, ad-hoc community of developers bound by a desire to improve ourselves, challenge assumptions, and help each other pursue excellence in the practice of software development, obviously with a strong emphasis on development using the Microsoft.NET platform.
Though the name might suggest otherwise we are not looking for alternatives to Microsoft or .NET, nor are we in any way Anti-Microsoft.
The "Alt" in Alt.Net comes from the fact that we are always looking at alternatives to see if there are better ways of doing things no matter where that alternative might come from. So if it's something new from Microsoft, that's great - if it's an approach from the open source world or an alternate language or somewhere else entirely then that's great too.
